The pre-planning "year 0" is the year charter leaders address the in depth practice of preparing to perform in front of a live audience—the students. You've written the plan and received your approval, now it's time to fine tune the details. Metaphorically, you've written the score, found your musicians (teachers & staff), chosen a venue (facility), and now you need to keep up the tempo which is in 18 months time until you open the doors for your big performance—a quality school.

The day your charter application is approved is the day you and your board are “on the clock” to open your school.
